Geotunel invests in equipment from world-leading brands in its sector:
The key to our total autonomy in all projects is owning the entire machinery fleet.
The team.
Our technical staff is led by qualified experts with extensive knowledge of the execution procedures in all phases that comprise the excavation, tunnel support and ground improvement work cycles.
We always have experienced engineers, supervisors and team leaders with strong organisational skills at the worksite and skilled workers capable of handling incidents that may arise in-situ: drilling and shotcrete operators, excavator operators, rock bolters, truck drivers, mechanics, electricians, etc.
Here at Geotunel we recognise the vital importance of the maintenance team. It is composed of highly-committed, extremely well-trained experts thanks to which we can proudly say that not a single machine has required repair or reconditioning at the manufacturer’s workshop.
In addition to a continously-modernised central machinery fleet, each project is equipped with its own workshop and a team of specialised mechanics to ensure continuous operation of the equipment and the capacity to meet all day-to-day challenges.
Facilities.
Tunnel excavation entails a very high level of wear and tear on machinery. Successful compliance with the critical path is the result of guaranteed response to breakdowns.
Geotunel is provided with more than 8,000 m² of parking and workshop space able to meet the most demanding contingencies. Our central machinery fleet facility is capable of performing comprehensive repairs on each and every one of our machines. And we are not talking about merely cosmetic repairs but major failures. Excavators, drilling rigs, shotcrete robots, trucks… it’s all the same to our maintenance team. Their scope is global.
Moreover, our own spare parts warehouse enables us to provide fast, regular supply to projects, ensuring streamlined response to urgent cases and to avoid unwanted delays that disrupt project planning.
Machinery.
Our machinery fleet is made up of more than 200 machines of different types. Investment in new equipment is one of the most significant items on the budget.
In the underground works area we are equipped with material resources to execute tunnels of any cross-section by conventional means including mechanical excavation and drilling and blasting. This includes all the facilities and technology needed to ensure supplies (ventilation, power, water, air, etc.), blasting, excavation and all the required machinery.
Our Geotechnical Area is endowed with full work teams with drilling rigs, shotcrete pumps, injection equipment and equipment suitable for work at heights with baskets fitted with drilling hammers and personnel elevation devices. This equipment enables us to tackle all aspects of slope stabilisation and special foundations.
